Harts Coffee Cart is a mobile coffee cart businesses that caters for all sorts of events such as work functions, corporate events, private parties and weddings. Operated by Jason Hart and his wife, Karine, Harts Coffee Cart have been operating in and around Melbourne since 2010. As a trained barista with over 10 years of experience, Jason also offers specialised coffee training for those looking at working in the hospitality industry.

The original Harts Coffee Cart website was experiencing some issues caused by their outdated theme and plugins. A new WordPress theme was developed along with an overhaul of all the site plugins, providing a much needed stability to the site. The new theme also provided the opportunity to give the site design a whole new refresh. Their basic eCommerce functionality was also updated to a powerful WooCommerce site. This provided Jason with a significantly better experience for adding and editing their range of products, along with a better front-end customer experience and more functionality with managing the store in the back-end.

Red Bottle are a collection of independent bottle-shops in the Sydney CBD and inner city, selling your favourite beers, wines and spirits from around the world. In operation for over 10 years, Red Bottle pride themselves on selection, competitive pricing and friendly knowledgeable service.

Red Bottle’s old website was looking very dated, and with no content management system running behind-the-scenes, updating the site was becoming more and more difficult as the company, and their product range, grew.

Looking to improve their online appearance and offer their customers more functionality, Red Bottle approached myself to design and build them a brand new website. Using WordPress as their Content Management System (CMS), I built a custom WordPress theme with full eCommerce functionality using WooCommerce, including the ability for multiple (corporate/retail) product prices. As well as being significantly easier to manage, the new Red Bottle site is extremely fast and looks great across desktops, smartphones and tablet devices. With the ability to browse and order online, customers now have a significantly better experience when using the Red Bottle site.

SitePoint is a hub for web developers to share their passion for building incredible Internet things. Founded in 1999 and based in Melbourne (Australia), SitePoint is proud to support all manner of web professionals, from developers, designers, product creators through to entrepreneurs.

As part of their commitment to providing useful resources to the development community, Sitepoint were keen to provide a selection of WordPress themes.  Before this could happen though, they wanted to develop a high quality base theme that they could use to build these themes. Not only would this provide them a great starting base for their themes, but would also provide some consistency among all the themes they were planning to release.

In designing & building the Base Theme for sitepoint, I focused on 6 major areas. This new base theme needed to be super fast. With a performance score of 98 on Pingdom, this was definitely achieved. It needed to be mobile friendly. Google gave it 100/100 on their Mobile Testing tool. It was important that this new theme was coded with WordPress best practices in mind, it needed to be easy to use and develop with and it was important that it be released under the GPL Open Source license. Last, but not least, with the growing number of eCommerce sites out there, it was important to make it compatible with the best WordPress eCommerce platform out there, WooCommerce.

Lisa Ellis Gardens provides exquisite garden design and maintenance. Lisa had an existing WordPress website and was wanting to provide her clients with an extra service by offering an online store for some of her specialty products. I implemented WooCommerce to setup her online store, along with making a few theme design & development tweaks along the way. Lisa’s store also integrates with the ANZ eGate payment gateway to securely handle all the online transactions.
